CyVAWG: Cyber Violence Against Women and Girls
Funded by Innovate UK
Supported by DSIT, West Midlands Police
Multidisciplinary research examining technology-facilitated abuse against women and girls. Combined survivor-centred research, crime data analysis, and public engagement to strengthen awareness and practical responses. Key outputs: toolkit, case studies, and community workshops.
CyberKali: Gender-Inclusive Cybersecurity Education
Funded by NCSC, DSIT and QinetiQ
Education-led initiative addressing gender and diversity gaps in cybersecurity. Delivered hands-on Capture the Flag events, mentoring, and industry engagement for girls and young women. Increased confidence, skills, and awareness of cybersecurity career pathways.

Forensic-led investigation of cyber violence within hidden online environments. Integrates digital forensics, responsible AI, and co-creation methodologies. Developing tools, evidence, and policy insights through workshops with law enforcement, NGOs, and schools.
InnovaCyBridge: Bridging Cybersecurity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship

European initiative strengthening cybersecurity capacity across higher education institutions. Integrates deep-tech training with innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry engagement. Brings together universities, startups, and innovation ecosystems to address skills gaps.
SCUDO: Strengthening Capacity to Understand and Disrupt Online Abuse
Funded by ESRC IAA, Partnered with Forensic Pathways
Supported by West Midlands Police
Addressing the £66 billion annual harm caused by cyber-violence against women and girls through cross-border collaboration. The project analyses abuse patterns across open and dark web sources. Delivers a digital-safety toolkit, specialist training for 40–50 frontline practitioners, and evidence-based policy recommendations for UK and EU stakeholders.

Advanced research and knowledge transfer partnerships strengthening expertise and innovation
VAWG-AIE: Cyber Violence Against Women and Girls: Evaluating AI in Social Media Governance
Aston University’s Aston Impact Fund
Examining how artificial intelligence is used by social media platforms to detect and address cyber violence against women and girls. Using a socio-technical framework and mixed-methods approach, the PhD project critically evaluates the effectiveness, limitations, and unintended consequences of AI content moderation. Generates practical recommendations for platforms and policymakers to ensure AI systems are both technically robust and socially accountable.
